On March 4 over 20 Elizabethans assembled in the lobby to meet the senior building engineer Jimmy Keating for a tour of the Elizabeth's inner workings. This tour included such things as seeing the engineer's office where he keeps his checklists and the computer monitors that watch the heating & cooling systems, the elevators, and garage doors as well as the rooms housing the big machinery of the heating & cooling systems, the controls for the pool, and the trash compactors.
Going up on the roof was literally breath-taking. Not only is the scenery awesome (we could see the cherry trees in Somerset of course, and we could also see all the way to Dulles airport) but it was also a rather windy day! However, everyone made the trip safely across the roof to see the big chillers and other elements housed in a room up there without being blown away.
