Summary of March 19 2013 ECA Board Meeting

Present: Directors: Ted Ariev, John McNerney, David Robinson, Steven Schattman, Herman Stekler, ECA General Manager Jim Santos, Legum & Norman Vice President Gregory Robey, recording secretary.




Absent: Charles Bressler and Ilo-Mai Harding

Highlights of the meeting:

President’s Report:

--Architectural Committee name is now Design Control Committee. This name is in keeping with ECA Bylaws.

--Robin and Steven Schattman heading a new website development committee.

--The hair salon sign, a red sign, affixed to the arcade wall entrance has been removed.

--Candidates to run for the ECA Board needed. Election Committee formed and includes Diana Brosnan, Ellen Cohen, and Maurice Trebach.

Treasurer’s Report:

--The operating budget will be finalized and mailed out to ECA members for comment.

--ECA now seeking new auditing firm. This is good practice to change firms every 5-6 years to ensure the most accurate assessments.

--Four accounts in collection (down by one).

Management Report:

--Shut down of remaining West Tower elevator to replace hoist motor begin March 26 2013. This is final phase of the project.

--Ongoing examination of Washington Gas bills now looking at a software issue.

--Possible replacement of washing machine hoses with sturdier braided hose.

Committee Reports:

Website: upgrade the L&N website which is now one size fits all to include more features that may prove useful to the community. ECA members & residents urged to sign up.

Fitness: looking to repair and renovate, including use of energy efficient lighting.

Making a Difference: successful collection of professional clothing, briefcases, purses, shoes.

Social: May 5 at 7 pm there will be a talk by Brian Murphy on Afghanistan.

May 19 at 5 pm there will be classical music piano recital.

Storage: recommends that people go to storage, locate their things and bring into compliance with house rules.
